The mayor of Manchester has recently marked the launch of a dedicated tech incubator which will signal a digital employment boom across Greater Manchester.
Costing an enormous £2 million funded by Manchester City Council, the tech incubator will assist start-up companies in developing their business across science, technology and innovation sectors to bring over 2,000 digital jobs to the city of Manchester.
In collaboration with Manchester Science Partnerships, the UK top science park operator provides priceless support services to companies looking to boost growth with campuses across Manchester and Cheshire. Start-up support is wide-ranging with access to financial advice, talent and market guidance available from professional experts in the field.
The Manchester Technology Centre sits at the heart of the Manchester campus in Circle Square – Manchester’s biggest ever city centre development. It’s a purpose-built building located on the Oxford Road Corridor, which sits in an aptly named ‘Innovation District’ where businesses can receive expert assistance from the early stages of development.
As part of the Northern Powerhouse scheme which has been evolving over the past five years, an emphasis on digital and technical innovation has been stressed as integral to positive economic growth. The new tech incubator will aid the ‘second city’ northern zone in becoming a vibrant and leading centre for tech and digital enterprise whilst attracting skilful young professionals to its golden employment options.
According to property experts, RWinvest, ‘significant investment is being made across Greater Manchester into all sectors’. However, it is this exciting addition to the technology division which is described as taking Manchester to a whole new level. The plethora of new jobs which will be up for grabs over the next ten years will span specialist industries ranging from artificial intelligence, and cyber security to digital health and smart cities and will contribute to the 60,000 jobs which these areas of technology are already responsible for.
There will be a much wider impact on Manchester’s status as a major global economy as figures suggest that the tech cluster is worth £2.9 billion. The thriving hotspot for growth and employment will tempt young professionals and graduates from within the UK and overseas to find work on Manchester’s soil. As well as being based in a central and exciting part of the city centre, prospective tech workers can take advantage of being based within a sector in receipt of huge investment and backing from the local council whilst also a main focus of a wider UK initiative.
Zooming out to other sectors of the economy, an influx of target tenants under the age of 30 is great news for property which will also benefit from increased demand for modern accommodation close to the innovative quarter of the city. The 2,000 jobs generated by Manchester Science Partnerships’ tech incubator alone means that there will be around 2,000 new residents in Manchester in need of a nearby, contemporary living space.
Young people are choosing Manchester over rival UK destinations because of its pioneering projects in digital enterprise just like this one, and this is urging investors to select the city for property investment out of a number of other appealing urban regions.
